Additionally, three of the six state parks with golf courses are located in our region.  Hawks Nest State Park Golf Course is a challenging nine hole executive course offering inspiring views of the New River valley.  Pipestem Resort State Park has two golf courses.  The 18-hole course overlooks the Bluestone Canyon and the none-hole par three course is the perfect spot for an afternoon round.  Nearby, is Twin Falls State Park in Mullens.  Water comes into play on 15 of the 18 holes here. 

Every year, Golf Digest ranks the top golf courses in every state.  In 2009, they ranked three local courses as #3 and #4, and #5.  Glade Springs Resort and Stonewall Jackson Resort are both short interstate drive away from us and besides, the golfing will be worth the drive.
